Lancaster Skin Care

Our skin is the largest organ in our body. It absorbs 60-80% of what it comes in contact with - yikes! Lauren's Makeup Designs believes that beautiful makeup begins with beautiful skin. Follow these simple at home recipes for facial and body scrubs that will leave you with silky smooth skin; perfect for makeup and tanning applications! (note: We like to use organic products wherever possible to prevent our delicate skin from absorbing unwanted toxins; however it is not required for these recipes!)

FACIAL SCRUBS

banana scrub:

  • 1/2 of a ripe banana (yes, a banana!)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of your favorite essential oil ( we like to use vanilla for this scrub!)

Directions:

Smash ingredients together into a chunky goop and rub that baby all over your freshly cleansed face - spend a lot of time massaging it all over your skin, even extending down the neck. Wipe clean and moisturize as normal.

P.s. While this particular recipe is not necessarily an exfoliant, bananas protect our skin from free radicals; using this scrub will help delay the skins aging process!

Citrus salt scrub:

  • 1/2 cup sea salt (if you find the sea salt too coarse for your face, switch to granulated sugar)
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon citrus zest (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, or a mixture!)

Directions:

Mix ingredients together. Rub on cleansed skin, avoiding the eyes, and rinse off. Please note: if using salt, do not use this scrub if you have any open blemishes or cuts.. that would not feel good!

Don't-Forget-Those-Lips-Mint-Scrub:

combine a bit of jojoba or olive oil with caster sugar (aka 'superfine' sugar which you can purchase in the baking isle of your supermarket) and a touch of peppermint or vanilla extract. Place some of the paste on your lips, massage, and lick or wipe off.
